I made these contact mic'd recordings in Hertfordshire on 02.02.08. They were part of a bigger university project designed to try and compare the fundamental auditory difference between trees growing next to the A1(M) motorway and trees of the same species growing one mile away. Both sets of recordings were made on days when the wind speed levels were roughly the same, measured using an anemometer. Here are the recordings of trees that were situated a mile away. I have also included a recording of a pine tree made in Moorvich, Scotland, on 07.07.07

These three drum based pieces were recorded in the same studio one same day as 'and leaves' for Lyon based Rayon Records. I used the same bamboo skewer for all of the prolonged tones, the gong was found in the studio and has since been claimed. On the other side of the tape is Peter Strickmann.

I recorded these two single drum pieces at Middlesex University London with a matched pair of NT1 microphones on the 15.02.08. Both recorded in succession and in one take. The first piece was played with as little intention as possible, shaking the side of the drum and blowing over pine needles, pushing objects into one-another. For the second piece I constructed a large pile of objects on the drum with the idea that the piece would end when they had all fallen to the floor. The latter tracks were recorded at home on the 25.05.08 using a Rode NT4 Stereo Microphone, a drum, and some Bamboo. I did not participate in track 5, it is solely the microphone, the drum, and some bamboo leaves that were left over after the initial recordings.

HoneyBees. (made to order)

I first became interested in the recording of bees upon reading the book 'the dancing bees' by Karl Von Frisch. Whilst walking around Edinburgh's many bookshops, on my way to camp in the Highlands, I came across this book purely by chance. These recordings aren't an attempt at experimenting within the research set down by Von Frisch, I do not consider myself adept at such things, I see them as merely interesting aesthetics and also intriguing observational and auditory processes. Like a lot of my recordings however, I also consider them to be heuristic, ideas and thought patterns that lend themselves to further development, and not just within the bounds of field recording.

The Good Anna - Wolf Tickets LP (Run of 100)

Recorded at the Holy Trinity Church in Leeds in 07 this is the only surviving recorded element of The Good Anna thus far that is for sale in the state it was meant to be sold in. This record contains 3 improvisations of a completely different nature to everything else available on this site, played on prepared guitar and prepared drums its morphology is a harsher and more abrupt pattern of movement and development.

Panshangar Aerodrome (made to order)

Private planes, helicopters, falling debris, birds, and contracting corrugated iron roofing from inside an abandoned hangar. A edifice sat on the edge of an airstrip in rural Hertfordshire, surrounded by forests, landfills, and derelict structures not unlike this one, I had walked past the space many times and missed it, despite its overwhelming size. I noticed moss growing on a polystyrene block and also watched a blackbird dive from a tree and devour a wasp that had just emerged from its hole in the ground.
